H2O...doesn't like me!

Today I had my butt, and everything else kicked, this morning at my kettlebell class! It was awesome! I haven't felt that pushed in a long time, and boy does it fell great! After that class I decided to join in on a treadmill class. Nothing too hard, but after the kettlebell kicking it was a little more difficult than the trainer gave off to me before the class! Anyway, it consisted of walking, then running, then walking, doing side shuffles, walking lunges, squats (done on the non-moving part of the treadmill - we're not that good!), high knees, butt kicks, and skipping...yes all on the treadmill! So throughout this workout I've been chugging down my water, and couldn't seem to get enough. Or at least I thought! We ended the workout, and did some streatching, and started to not feel all so great. I kept going though, thinking it would pass, but it really wasn't wanting to. I walked to the locker room, and not much longer made it into the bathroom stall where I threw up all the water I had just drank! It's a good thing that I didn't have anything in my stomach that's for sure! Now I was nice, and cleaned up everything, because that's just rude not too! I still feel a little...eh...but much better. Right now it's just a headache, and body aches but I'm sure that is from the kettlebells earlier today. So we'll see if I down that much water again any time soon! Over and out!

Heart rate up, sweat pouring down...

WOW! Talk about a serious work out! Yesterday I had the most amazing work out at Anytime Fitness, Kettlebell Blast! I got my butt kicked! I literally am sore today, and that hasn't happened for quite some time! I'm sore, but its very much a good sore. I used a 15 pound kettlebell, but am not feeling it in my arms really at all, so I'm going to go out and buy a 20 pound before the end of the week. The class meets on Monday's and Thursday's, but until class lets out, I'll only be able to make it on Monday, still better than nothing! Anyway, so we did swings, lunges, alternating arm swings, squats, figure eights, curtsies (which dang your thighs burn when you do those!), and a bunch of other things I don't really remember. I suggested a few other routines for next time, so we'll see what we end up doing! While doing these kettlebell workouts, you not only get a great strength training exercise, but also a really good cardio workout too! My heart rate was way up really giving my heart a good work out, as well as a good endurance style push. It was a GREAT way to start the week, and I can't wait until next week! I'm sure I'll do some training on my own throughout the week, especially if it warms up a little so I can go outside with it! What a blast indeed!

My new love!

I finally got a kettlebell!!! It might not look like much, but believe me when I say that this thing will kick your gluteus maximus!

I worked out with it a little bit last night and wow I am sore! A good sore, but I can already feel it working. I don't know that I've ever felt this worked after such a short time, and with only one piece of equipment....EVER! They're becoming much more popular, to the point that you can get them at Target, Dick's Sporting Goods, etc. I bought a 15 pound KB, and I'll be sticking with that one for a while. I would like to get a second 15 pound so I can do renegades and such, but for now, the single will do just fine. I even had my sister try it out (who is really fit/tough/etc.) and she said that even with the 15 that she was feeling it, and this was after only just a couple minutes! So, my advice to you...go buy one, you won't be disappointed. You can work every part of your body with this ONE piece of equipment. There is nothing else like it, so go for it, your body will thank you (in the long run anyway!)!

Update: Pre-training

Well, as of right now, training is out. I unfortunately have the same injury that I had last year around the same time. So this means that I will not be able to train, or run the half marathon this May like I had planned to. Training will be put on hold until I am able to rehab it for a while, and I will be setting a different goal. Actually it's a bigger goal now, but later in the year. This May, I'll either be running the 5 or 10k instead of the half, as part of my training for the race in October.

As far as this past week, things weren't as steady as they should have been. I didn't make it to the gym everyday, partially because of the injury and partially because of pain to my knee (no worries, I have a brace for that now!).

The new goal: FULL MARATHON! This October is the Kansas City Marathon. So I'm setting a huge goal, but can't wait! Over and out!

Update: Pre-training

Okay, sorry this is a day late...

This week wasn't as on as I had hoped, but still pretty good. Most of the days I made it to the gym without a problem, and had fairly good workouts, even going twice a couple days!

As far as the eating habits are going....very on track which is awesome! I actually really like the new menu, and think I'll stick to it even after the race.

This coming week is another pre-training week, so no mileage count yet, but still the same goals; getting to the gym early in the morning, eating healthy, tracking progress.

Update: Pre-training

Yes, it really is pre-training for the first couple weeks. Right now my only concern is getting to the gym. Mainly because I know that if I am too focused on the actual workout then it wont last long at all. So here is the update:

I got to the gym the entire week on time...which meant getting up by 5:20am and heading to the gym shortly after. So as of right now, things are going well. This coming week the goal is the same thing. My thought behind this is that if I get into the routine of things then I can focus on the workout and not have to worry about the routine anymore.

Throughout the week I was able to get in about 12 miles, along with a good amount of weights as well. This coming week, for a couple days anyway, I'm planning on doing cardio in the morning, and then weights in the afternoon. We'll see how this goes, but I think it should go really well. Over and out!

Back to it again!

That's right, I'm back to training for another half marathon! Here goes nothing! (Well, okay something!) Here are my initial goals, which will start up this coming week!
  • Working out at 5:30am Mon-Thurs. & 7am Fri-Sun.
  • Keeping a log of what workouts I'm doing, esp. mileage. (Posting weekly on here too!)
  • Eating vegetarian during the week, and only eating white meat (if any) on the weekends.
  • Setting difficult, but not impossible goals. (Monthly, and race times)
  • Changing up my workouts every week, and possibly throughout the week so I don't get bored.
  • Listening to my body! I can't afford to be injured again, esp without my Chiropractors close to fix me up!

Okay well there you go! If you have any tips, or questions, please let me know! I'll do my best to get back to you quickly! Over and out!
